Sweet Chili Sauce

Instructions


  1. Add garlic, chili, ginger and carrot into base the Herb Chopper. Cover and pull cord to chop, approx. 10 pulls.

  2. Pour contents of Chopper into small saucepan and add rice vinegar, sugar and salt. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 min.

  3. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with cold water, then add to saucepan and continue simmering for 2-3 min., stirring frequently until sauce thickens.

  4. Allow to cool before transferring to a sealed container. Store in the fridge.

This homemade Sweet Chili Sauce is a healthy and additive-free alternative to store-bought sauce.

  • 3 garlic cloves (peeled)
  • 2 small red chilis (cut in pieces)
  • 2 cm ginger root (peeled and cut in pieces) (±1 in.)
  • 15 g carrot (peeled and cut in pieces) (±1 in.)
  • 180 ml rice vinegar (±⅔ cup)
  • 180 g sugar (±¾ cup)
  • 5 ml salt (±1 tsp)
  • 15 ml cornstarch (±1 tbsp)
  • 80 ml cold water (±⅓ cup)
